Rehabilitation and Adoption Services. Dark Horse Rescue, Inc. (DHR) is a nonprofit organization that began in 2009 as a backyard operation. It has since grown to a fully functioning horse rehabilitation and adoption organization that rests on 130 acres in Byhalia, MS. DHR works closely with local law enforcement to ensure quality care of horses amongst our community. Upon arrival, horses are quarantined for a minimum of 30 days. Horses are evaluated and treated by a licensed veterinarian while receiving the quality diet needed and recommended for a full recovery. Upon maximum medical and nutritional improvement, horses are then placed up for adoption through a formal process. For more information, please visit our website at darkhorserescue.org.
