Rescue, Rehab, Train and Adopt At Risk Horses. Hello All, Welcome to From Here to Forever Home Equine Rescue, we are very pleased to have you as a Forever Friend and supporter of our Organization. We are very proud of our horses and how far they have come. Most were rescued from what is known as kill buyers, the persons who purchase these beautiful animals for very little and ship them to Mexico or Canada for slaughter and the meat exported overseas where it is considered a delicacy. This endeavor has been a labor of love. Most of the horses come to us scared of people abused, neglected, abandoned, injured or just need to find their Forever Home. Some are paid for and some are not, but they each come with their own story. This is where our work begins, we give them time to decompress and just be a horse for a while. During this time is when we rebuild their trust, show them what it is to love and have compassion for them. It is amazing to see a horse who once would not dare come near us, blossom into the beautiful flowers they are. Many are injured or severely emaciated and we are the ones who have the pleasure of making them well again so they have that opportunity for a full, happy life. So once they have had time to know love and how to give and receive it, and have healed from their physical and emotional scars, we begin working with them on their training. Some will be with us for the remainder of their lives, others go on to be dressage and eventing horses or just a best friend to take out on the trails by being adopted out. It is during this time when our supporters become a huge part of the rescue, giving donations for their care and recovery. Many of these majestic beauties are being given their second, third or even fourth chance at life. But it does not stop at that point as this is where the horses show their appreciation and forgiveness for all the bad in the world as they teach children who may be depressed, bullied, low income or otherwise withdrawn. These children come to us with hardly a word to say and most have never even been close enough to touch a horse, so we work with the horses and children together and they give each other strength, confidence and, many times what has been missing in their lives up to this point. We start with the first touch, teach safe handling, grooming, feeding, bathing, all the way up to riding lessons.It is an absolute miracle when one of these children come in and never stop talking. They have found their way out of the darkness through a horse, they have their confidence back, learn compassion and love, and that is the greatest reward ever. The horses, children and rescue all rely on our Forever Friends and supporters, for their generosity to ensure we can continue to give back as much as we can to these majestic creatures, whose lives need repairing, and the children who come in as a closed bud and open into a beautiful rose during the program. So we all thank you for your help support and donations to assure we can continue to help as many and as often is possible.
