Rescue and Adoption of Equines in Need. Horse Haven Montana's mission is Education; Understanding to Enhance the Equine/Human Bond; to Improve the Welfare of the Horse and Other Equines. We accomplish this through rescue and adopt efforts and our policy is not to ask why, so much as how can we help? Our goal is permanent adoption in a responsible, caring, knowledgeable, safe and loving home. From time to time we are able to provide foster or short term care for an animal in need but our goal is permanent placement. We also launched the first all-equine film festival and conference, the EQUUS International Film Festival and Conference as an outreach and education project of Horse Haven. It is our belief that through education, and the use of media to inspire, raise awareness and educate, the need for rescue will be lessened and more people will chose adoption as a great alternative to slaughter or homelessness. If you know of an animal in need or you are interested in adopting a horse, mule, or other type of equine, please contact us or visit us on the web. We also work extensively with dude ranches, private ranches, individuals as well as government agencies with equine programs. Through a recent change in federal laws, agencies can "donate" their retirees or animals they can no longer use, to our non profit organization and we can then adopt out to a pre-approved home. An adoption application is required before any adoption can take place. If you are not interested in adoption but are interested in helping a horse, or sponsoring a particular horse that needs help, all contributions and sponsorships are welcome and deeply appreciated.
