Equine-Assisted Therapy & Horse Rescue/Sanctuary. What We Offer We offer Equine-Assisted Mental Health/Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy, Equine-Assisted Learning, coaching and support programs. Below you will find a description of each; each are unique in their own way and provide hope and healing to our participants. For Individuals: Equine-Assisted Mental Health/Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy/Equine-Assisted Learning, Counseling, Coaching services for individuals who desire to work through issues related to PTSD such as panic attacks, relationship issues, conduct disorder, anxiety, adjustment issues, impulse-control, and more. These are on an as-scheduled basis. - Clients in the Break Free program will learn to recognize habits & destructive behaviors and learn new skills to release, readjust and reconnect and break free from behaviors that are holding them back. The program is a metaphor for a type of halter that is designed to allow the horse to break free if they become entangled. Primarily focused on veterans, soldiers, law enforcement, first responders but available to anyone suffering from trauma that has resulted in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. For Couples & Families: Equine-Assisted Mental Healty/Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy/Equine-Assisted Learning services for families and couples. When someone is suffering from PTSD relationships, communication and family dynamics break down. These sessions are on an as-scheduled basis. Horses are herd animals that function together as a unit for survival. They have clear and honest communication, boundaries, and effective discipline within their horse-family which allows them to work together. Families and couples in our Herd program will learn to recognize when the herd dynamics of their family is changing or struggling, and practice new skills learning to work together as a cohesive and loving unit. Primary focus is on families of veterans, soldiers, law enforcement, first responders, and members of the general public who are suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as a result of a trauma. HERO Women & Children, Healthy Esteem & Respect for Ourselves Self Esteem & Core Value Program This is a strength-based program with the goal to increase the frequency of healthy and positive behaviors while decreasing the frequency of less desired behaviors and the attitudes driving them. Less desired behaviors and attitudes could be poor self-image, lack of confidence, or pessimistic view of the future. Women and children can blossom and grow once freed from criticism and fear. Focus is on finding the strengths inherent in the person and building on them. Bringing a message of hope and healing for a better tomorrow. PonyTales Literacy: Inspiring Children to Discover the Joy of Reading. Our literacy program is designed to help children discover his or her love of reading by combining their natural connection with horses with stories about horses. Children struggling with reading to other students or teachers are encouraged to read to the horses. After story time they are rewarded with horse time, incentivizing them to want to read thereby motivating them to improve their reading skills. MISSION STATEMENT Horses Healing Heroes utilizes the healing effects of horses into the growth and mental health of humans for treatment of psychological trauma, social and emotional abuse and other life challenging issues through therapy, education, coaching and support. Release limiting emotions and behaviors Readjust through self awareness & self discovery Reconnect to life and others Healing doesn?t mean the damage never existed, it means the damage no longer controls our lives. Home for Equine Angels Repurposed for Therapy: At the heart of the Horses Healing Heroes program is the bond between a human and a horse. Suffering human heroes find solace and compassion in the horses at HHH, who, in turn, become our Heroes' Heroes. Without its horses, the HHH program cannot exist. Our H.E.A.R.T. program takes in horses donated by well-meaning owners who can no longer provide for them. Some of these horses are ranch and performance horses that are past their prime or can no longer perform at the level required for their demanding jobs. Others are horses who have developed chronic, but not life-threatening, medical problems that prevent them from performing. In addition to donated horses, H.E.A.R.T. also accepts horses rescued from negligent owners. After medical assessment and rehabilitation where needed, many of these horses are perfectly suited to join the equine staff of Horses Healing Heroes. Those not suitable for a therapy role may become available for adoption by qualified, loving adopters. How our program works... HHH is contacted about a rescue needing placement - A review performed to determine elibility - Medical evaluation and quarantine - Nutritional plan - Training evaluation - Introduction to the herd group - Training and handling period - Enters into program or is put up for sale/adoption.
