The Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County is entering its 31st year proudly serving Sumter County, Florida as a volunteer based 501(c)(3) organization. The Society assists ALL animals in need and networks with its County Animal Services Dept. and area rescues. The Society does not offer "same-day" adoptions in order to review the best forever match of animals to adopters possible. The HS/SPCA also offers S/N and free dog/cat pet food assistance for qualifying applicants. It is also working to construct Central Florida's 1st "GREEN" Animal Shelter. Mission Statement: -Encouragement of responsible animal ownership practices through education, -Pursuit of reported incidents of animal cruelty and/or neglect and the taking of appropriate action, -Providing care for adoptable animals that are injured, abused, unwanted or abandoned, whenever possible, -Spaying and neutering all animals to be adopted to reduce the number of the unwanted animal population.
