Thoroughbred Retirement of Tampa, Inc.

Thoroughbred Retirement of Tampa, Inc. (commonly referred to as TROT) is a 501(c)(3) dedicated to Thoroughbred aftercare - the safe retirement from racing, rehabilitation, retraining and re-homing - of Tampa's racing Thoroughbreds. We recognize the potential that retiring Thoroughbreds offer to the sport horse world and are able assist in their transition to the next phase of their lives after their racing careers are over.

All the horses in our program were donated to the organization by their racing connections. Our program is currently limited to taking horses that are donated by the owners and trainers during the live racing meet at Tampa Bay Downs (which normally runs from December to the 1st Sunday in May). Our ultimate goal is to obtain the funding so we can help any Thoroughbred that raced at Tampa Bay Downs.

Since its inception in April 2009, TROT has taken fifty-seven (57) horses into the program. Forty-four (45) horses have been placed. We currently have five (5) horses in our program.
